New eatery coming to West Chester - Business Courier of Cincinnati

A restaurant is being added to the Meridian Conference Center & Wingate by Wyndham hotel in West Chester, as part of a large renovation.

The M Café & Bistro is expected to be open by Nov. 20, when renovations to the lobby and guest rooms are projected to be complete. The menu will feature casual-contemporary American dishes and small plates, along with gourmet pizzas, salads and a full bar. Prices will range from $8 to $19.

The Meridian Conference Center, and the attached Wingate by Wyndham, is a full-service hotel and conference center with 5,000 square feet of event space and 90 guest rooms. It opened in 2002.

Boutique hotels may take root downtown - Business First

When travelers from New York or Los Angeles visit Columbus, there's a good chance they'll favor the tony Lofts on East Nationwide Boulevard over a standard room at chain hotel downtown.

Independent hotels seem more exclusive, said Charles Lagarce, president of Columbus Hospitality LLC, manager of the Lofts and the neighboring Crowne Plaza hotel.

"There are a lot of travelers who prefer a boutique hotel over a traditional hotel," he said, "especially if they're from the larger cities."

A Conversation with Charles Lagarce - Business First

Charles Lagarce, 47, has spent more than 20 years in the hospitality industry in various roles including hotel food and beverage director and general manager. As president and founder of Columbus Hospitality LLC, a firm that manages hotels, restaurants and fitness centers, Lagarce leads his employees to create and manage companies' brands as well as making sure guests of client properties are satisfied. A native of Lenox, Mass., he received a degree in hotel/restaurant management from Cape Cod Community College and holds a Certified Hotel Administrator designation.

How did you become interested in the hospitality industry?

I started working at a resort in high school and quickly discovered how much I enjoy the many different aspects of the hospitality industry.

Rehab of Capital Club delivers new catering service, pared dining hours - Business First

A local group that acquired Capital Club Columbus in June is promising changes in the private club's look and services.

Nine months and $1 million later, Huntington Center Associates has completed updates to the 30,000-square-foot facility in the Huntington Center tower downtown, which include fresh paint, furnishings, more athletic equipment and a catering service.

The biggest service change, however, was a reduction in restaurant hours, particularly for dinner.

Max & Erma's opening at Holiday Inn Sharonville - Business Courier of Cincinnati

Max & Erma's, the Columbus-based eatery known for burgers and big desserts, plans to open its Sharonville location, at the Holiday Inn, Friday.

The restaurant, which includes a less-cluttered prototype design, is a franchise location operated by Hauck Hospitality, which owns the hotel. It will be managed by Columbus Hospitality, a restaurant management company.

"We're escaping from the sea of sameness and differentiating Max & Erma's in the casual dining market," Rob Lindeman, CEO of Max & Erma's, said in a press release. "Many of our competitors copied our décor and image. Our new look reflects our heritage, but separates us from the competition."
